SEMrush acquires Backlinko – for !?
well, no one except for the 2 parties and their legal team, maybe.
The announcement came into my inbox (yes, I am on their mailing list like so many others for the obvious reason – their emails are value-packed) with the SL – I sold Backlinko.
It is indeed a bolt-on move by SEMrush in accordance with the “Buy what you can’t outrank” ideology. With this acquisition:
- Semrush doubled its organic traffic value
- Gained the brilliant Backlinko team to help strengthen its SEO Academy
- Paved a way for further acquisitions of niche companies by big players to expand their organic reach and add more value
- By investing in their user’s education, they are increasing loyalty to their platform
Talking about numbers, SEMrush has now gained
- 173K+ newsletter subscribers
- 470K YouTube subscribers and its rich content library
No doubt it’s the start of a potentially rewarding opportunity for Semrush. We are counting on more acquisitions like this one in the coming months. All we can do is sit back, grab some popcorn and stay tuned.
